This is my artwork for the western jungle. I decided to design a similar forest to Riven's jungle (Tay was originally written by a Rivenese so...) I also created a hidden place for the Rem clan in the jungle. I'm still working on its use Attachments:

This is my second concept art for the jungle. I decided to design a marsh inside the forest.

Wow! Fantastic! Nice to see some renewed activity here.
Apologies for my absence. I've been very busy with school (and life as well.) With some nice concept pieces we can begin building the aesthetic of the Age, refining the art-direction and world etc along with beginning to build a proposition document for Cyan. We will need more artists, both 3d and 2d, but moreso 2d at this moment to really flesh out the Age. I always look at Skywind as an example which grew as a volunteer fan project brimming with artists and talent. This project will undoubtedly take years but the goal is to successively grow and improve in members and talent, workflow, etc...
One thing I learned from Riven is that great games change... Nothing rarely remains static if one strives for excellence.
Now to discuss the artworks themselves...
Man really on the mark with both of these.
1. The first painting I could definitely see taking place in the Riverlands which is more covered in tall forest jungle in the vein of Riven. Less muggy and rainy than the Western Jungles with more sunlight streaking in between the trees. Also since the Riverlands are a contested region between clans with many minor clans taking dominion here, Rem would be one of the dominant clans in the area especially considering the Riverlands border the Clan Rem bastion of the Shipwreck Coast to the south-east.
However I really like that idea of a hidden Rem location in the Western Jungles. Maybe this area could be a more grassy forested region of the Jungles away from the bogs. Perhaps to the south-east.
I personally love the design you created for the wooden entrance and the blue fungi that adorns the side of the tree. This feels very much at home in the Robyn era of Cyan. Familiar and Earth-like, yet slightly alien, which is what I'm aiming for. The scene feels very much like a quiet secluded grove amid the jungles where story related information might be found, perhaps an object of importance or a hidden chest, or perhaps something more sinister like the remains of a slain soldier.
2. This really hits the nail on the head for how I always pictured the Western Jungles. Dense, rainy, wholly unpleasant. One reference I keep coming back to is Dagobah from The Empire Strikes Back and how the trees formed an almost impenetrable tangle of life, bulbous and gothic, making traversing the region an exhaustive experience, hence why Clan Atam have secluded themselves to the confines of the jungles.
I think what could best summarize the Western Jungles is Tribal Gothic or alternately Gothic Jungle. Ralph McQuarrie had some interesting sketches of lifeforms for Dagobah - snake or slug like creatures - that resembled gargoyles and demons. I think we could develop this angle further in terms of lifeforms, perhaps swamp snakes, tree slugs, flying lizards etc...
The painting in question really makes you feel in the thick of the jungle. I noticed the yellow insect flying above the marsh. Perhaps we could have some concepts for these? I'm personally picturing a kind of bulbous firefly with large reserves of orange fluid in its abdomen that can be used as venom as well as a lightsource.
Here are some other ideas for paintings if you're interested...

Thank you very much for your replay and comments. I will work on these ideas and try to design more sunny illustrations.
